Things I would say to Gracie :D

Gracie! You have now reached the age of 18. People may refer to this age with a variety of ways like “legal”, “mature” or “Pwede-ka-na-rin-ikulong-sa-wakas!” XD But despite the multitude of words people can conjure up, whether it be it be inspirational or just downright satirical, there can be only one thing that is surely in essence: womanhood. You have made a transition and change but despite this, never leave behind the characteristics that made your previous yourself the person you family and friends have to love, the traits that the people around you came to fancy and the very essences that made who you are distinctly “you.” Always remain:

GRATEFUL

The person you are now won’t be possible without the people that touched your life even in a minute way: never take them for granted.

RELIGIOUS

Even without you knowing you fully it, God has always been with you in every step of the way be it in your brightest and darkest experiences. Never lose sight of your faith

APPROACHABLE

Your warm attitude remains to be one of the strongest points on why people never cease to be attracted to you. This positivity will ensure that you’ll never be lonely in any part of your life

CAREFREE

Beyond your wildest imaginations lies a tool that can inspire even the most abysmal of times: your angelic smile. Though the world may seem to end in the lives of your loved ones, your optimistic attitude as portrayed by your smile delivers an uncanny ability to give a boost in confidence and positive outlook in their dim spirits, and I am no exception to that :D

INSPIRED

The success to life is finding and cherishing the most important aspects of your own heart be it concrete or abstract. Your inspiration is very strong and evident: as beautiful and graceful as your lit pieces has significantly portrayed.

EFFICIENT

Happiness is the ability to avert sadness. You are in charge of your life, never let emotions destroy that which gives you strength and joy. Don’t be overwhelmed by the obstacles and challenges of life. Stay as yourself right now: A strong and optimistic woman who has conviction and resolution sufficient enough to turn negativity inside and out

These are the traits I wish you’d never change: Being Grateful, Religious, Approachable, Carefree, Inspired and Efficient.

Be GRACIE!

See you sis! Love you!

:D

What I like about Green & White :D

For the past few months, Green & White has been a home to me. Despite the frenetic life of most school organizations' mandate(especially to those that cater to course specializations) to try to adapt and keep up with the university's fast paced lifestyle, Green & White remains to be a diamond in the rough: a fun-loving org that, in spite of its dedication, doesn't let pressure crumble its core essence of play and work. There are numerous adjectives that I could utilize in praise of the its accomplishments and inherent values but to summarize it all, I could write three things that I truly love about "it"...or should I say "her"?

Firstly is the atmosphere itself. Before joining Green & White, my predominant perception of joining an organization denotes one word: responsibility(with stress in the background) but within a few weeks, the org successfully proved me wrong since it manages break to one of the hardest aspects that the corporate or working world has unyieldingly absorbed: routine. My everyday with her has been evidently different, unique yet all the the time exciting and fresh and this is largely due to the next thing that I love about it...

...the members that fill and define her personality. Despite her small number, there is an abundance of variety within each persona that composes the group. Each one creates a unique blend and flavor that ultimately gives her her most relevant and fundamental trait: Carefreeness. Obligation is united with dedication, enjoyment is fused with commitment, delivery is done and executed without worry - this is Green & White.

Lastly and perhaps my most favorite thing about her is the sense of closeness that each one brings in the picture. With her apparent compactness as a group and openness as individuals, she accomplishes a feat that enables her to turn from a simple publication to a humble abode of comfort - the establishment of firm connections. The resulting end of which creates something that, although basically a definition of school itself, is very rarely felt by a member or student of an organization: a place that one can call a second home.

From ate Tish's infectious laughter, forward to kuya Oscar's naughty grin, once more to kuya Akee's warm demeanor and finally to ate Avis' sweet and angelic smile(and of course my sisters': Gracie's quite yet charming actions and Joyce's fun-loving and optimistic attitude.), Green & White creates an org that I can truly call my “family.”

Cheers! :D

Ate Avis in a nutshell :D

With the intellect of a sage and the charms of a siren, very few could match the unique persona that is Avis. Possessing an ironic yet admirable aura of purity and conviction, she proves that there is indeed unity between strict duty and open hospitality. A hardworking person at heart yet a fun-loving spirit in essence, one must hang-out with her in order to truly perceive the magic that lies within.

Humble, approachable and cheerful are only some of the words that one can come up with it to describe her internal and external guise but little do they know that even these ideal characteristics don’t do justice to the central existence she portrays. Give a problem, and she would provide a solution; give a solution, and she would give an option; give an option, and she would execute an action. She, herself, is the embodiment of oath, virtue and truth. She is as enigmatic and unique as her name may imply: a nice person we expect one to be – but takes it a step above. She is truly special, rare and one of a kind: a true transcendent of the norm.

If “Avian” represents a harmonious ascendance similar to a flight of birds then “Avis”, without a doubt, reflects a graceful descendance, comparable only to that of a charming and enlightening angel.

101 things that I must do before I die Part 7! (Term Finale Edition) :D

51. Eat weird flavors of ice cream

- A friend once told me that she saw a wasabi flavored ice cream. I was really in awe as to what kind of maniac would think of such a thing because it would seem to be a direct contrast wouldn’t it? It turned me off yet it made me curios of what other flavors there may be. I need to find that wasabi ice cream ASAP! Just want to make sure that I don’t end up in the hospital though haha!

52. Learn to skate

- The X games have always interested me. Their unorthodox take on recreation really excites me as to how it feels to perform these seemingly outrageous stunts. Skating is a prime example because of the fantastic tricks one can perform with it and similarly, those jaw-trenching wipeouts. Maybe someday I could try it out(EXTRA CAREFULLY XD) someday.... But I need to lose some weight first hehe.

53. Make my own animated series

- Aside from my other habits, watching cartoons and animated drawings is another grand addition. Compared to the sometimes-boring real world, these animated drawings produce vivid colors according to the desire of the artist. This freedom inspires me to aspire in creating my own series. In this world of mine, I am the master of everything yet it is fully dictated by my personality as influenced by others. One day you may even find a reference of your own influence in my work you know. :D

54. Get the new iPod Touch

- Man, I need to retire my old 2nd Gen Nano. It already has a dead-pixel line across the screen that resembles a strikeout. It even turns on and off by itself! o_O. The new rumored touch will have a camera as well and the new FW 3.0 included. This is in addition to the already countless number of apps hence what’s not to like about it? I need to save my some money!

55. Get a Macbook

- Speaking of iPod, I’m really curious as to how a Mac feels like. Granted, I already have a PC but I don’t have a laptop hence this could be my chance in getting one. One thing I’m having a problem with though is compatibility. Some programs are only exclusive to Microsoft hence my doubts. If favors alter then maybe I could choose this over MS.

56. Install a DvD drive on my PC

- HOLY CRAP! I cant’ believe that I still don’t have one on my PC. Blu-ray’s already beat HD-DvD in the format wars for its successor yet my PC still can’t read it. Speaking of which, should I just pass on this one and save up for a Blu-ray drive? Or get it for cheap? Guess I have to go for the latter.

57. Have my own personal Yacht

- What defines wealth? Money? Residences? Personal airplanes? or Lands? Well according to Hollywood movies and documentaries, it’s the Yachts that are kings of the symbols for wealth. Having a comfort of you home on the wide open sea, what more could you ask for? For richness, this is a must.

58. Have a wonderful life

- You may ask, ”Why be emo or something?” This is because everyday in the news, tragedy is always being talked about. It made me think that “Is tragedy inevitable for all of us?” I know that each and everyone of us experience pain and sorrow yet we forget that there are, similarly, equal amounts of joy that we take for granted because we’ve grown so used to them. So, to all my friends out there...thanks! :)

59. Walk on the moon

- Ever remember the shady black and with film that documented Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon? “One small step for man, one huge leap for mankind” No, I’m not talking about the technological implications of that, I’m talking about the experience itself. How does eating, walking , running....living in the moon feel like? I sure as hell don’t equate it to MJ’s dance move XD

60. Learning fencing

- This has got to be one of my most unusual aspirations. Guilty as charged, I use to like playing with swords when I was a child hence my imaginative nature. I held a fencing sword one time and it was heavy as heck! This won’t stop me from learning it though. As pointless and useless as it may be, it still looks fun doesn’t it?

61. Archery!

- Since I mentioned fencing, I guess i should say this as well. First time I encountered this was in during my 4th year in HS. Being a physics club member(No I’m not a nerd, I joined for incentive purposes LOLOLOLOLOL) we were privileged to see the archery team in action. What I saw was extraordinary – a 6 year old boy shooting flawless bull’s eyes one after another. Almost immediately, I wanted to be one but the exorbitant price of the bow held me back. When the time comes, I surely will...

62. Learn to drift

- Those “The Fast and the Furious” movies are getting to me. I know it’s illegal but it just looks so cool! You may have noticed that my past blog entries often have me saying that I love speed. This is unsurprisingly inevitable right? Those fancy tricks can get me killed but it doesn’t hurt learn naman right? The greater the risk, the greater the reward!

63. Lose some weight

- Ok I know, I’m chubby (huhuhu) and I need to straighten up. First, fix some eating habits Second, find an exercise routine. Third, form diligence and perseverance. Fourth, finish this blog entry so I could start....LOL

64. Learn to ice skate

- I’ve never been good at ice skating. In fact, the 1st time I’ve tried it was equivalent to walking on butter while blindfolded. It seriously looks fun hence automatically putting it into my “to learn” list. In addition, it is one of the more privileged hobbies out there hence making it more appealing. Lastly, I can’t have my sister have all the fun can I?

65. Spend an entire week in a hotel

- The hotel is probably one my most favorite places in the entire world. Aside from the cozy things they have there, it gives you a sense of home. It can even provide you with things you can’t have at home(Room service anyone?). Plus, all-day-aircon is really neat and tempting. The only downside is price cause you have to be prepared the shed out a whole load of cash in order to fully enjoy it.

66. Have Rock Band

- I’ve played a bit of Guitar Hero here and there but I haven’t owned this one yet. Many people say it’s better than the latter because it provides true band support. The ability to drop in and out of play with any combination of instruments is really appealing. Price is an issue because you really have to invest alot to truly enjoy what it offers since the instruments are not all compiled under one price, it is sold separately. Fully invested, it gives you the bang for your buck.

67. Ride a hot air balloon

- Modern technology can sometimes be drab. This means that your calling can be found in the most unlikely – the primitive and outdated. This back-to-basics approach can be refreshing since it can form a bond between you and nature hence its subsequent revitalizing effects. They say that no other air experience can compare to that of a hot air balloon due to its calmness and pacing. Let’s put that to the test shall we?

68. Buy my own Sony Cybershot camera

- Seeing that I severely lack in the pictures department of my life, I really need my own camera. Slick in design and color variants, the cybershot is a must have. It also has the ability to connect to a TV screen, how cool is that? And since I have a PS3, I can also use it with that. I’m nearing adulthood, I need more memories of my youthful days. I guess it’s time to get vain – Lights. Camera. Action!

69. See a shooting star

- Sound corny but at the same time cool. I know that it’s a common thing to look for one if you want your dreams to come true but this is not what I’m after though. It’s such a rare occurrence to see one hence its fascinating aspect. I also know that one recently happened but I fell asleep while waiting for it.(TOINK!)

70. Learning to play the drum

- Playing the guitar is one thing but the drums? It’s totally difference experience. The beat is an important part of the song hence inseparable in its creation. It is also one of the most exciting to use because of its versatility in speed and intensity. The repetitive movement it requires may be simple to look at but, in reality, complex to perform. Nonetheless, it is something to look forward to.

71. Spending a whole day in Starbucks!

- Everybody knows how seductive Starbucks is. The ambience and aroma is simply refreshing. Primarily a coffee shop, it amazes me how they can transform it into a social hub that enables people to gather up and conjure huge amounts of their money on their items while hanging out. Though I’m not filled to the brim with cash, I would certainly spend a whole lot of time in it – not for the merchandise, but for the experience.

72. Local Place hopping

- Many people always consider vacationing as a trip abroad. They think that it is more fruitful there because they’ve already grown here hence assuming for themselves that they know everything about this place. What they don’t realize is that there are far more things to explore here than just cities and nightlife. I for one haven’t gone to Mindanao but my recent Cebu escapade proved to be more than fulfilling thus I desire for more. The country truly is “Wow Philippines!.”

73. Dancing lessons!

- I hardly have any extracurricular activities due to the pressures of college. As a child, I used to have a while lot of fun just by dancing, goofing off and making a fool of myself. But now I realize that I can totally have fun with this by making it a hobby of sorts. Granted, I did enjoy my L.E.A.P last year of hiphop dancing so why not?

74. Going to church more often

- I have a committed sin to God by not doing this. I know it’s a tradition since childhood but I still fail to practice it most of the time. There are many reasons: school, events, work but mostly it’s just boredom. I’m a bad Christian am I right? I guess I’m still ways off from becoming saint but I’ll find a way to fix myself up.

75. Spending less money

- I’m not exactly a thrifty person. I spend more often than I save and it’s not a good habit. It may have been nice if it were necessities but hell no because they barely classify as such. For all the values that education taught me I guess this is one of the few that I have to learn for myself. Youth has not been kind to it but I hope by experiencing employment, I will finally learn and embody it.

76. Contribute to society

- I want to leave my mark on history by contributing something great society. Be it an invention or discovery, I want it to benefit the majority. The field of science may be the most likely greenest pasture but I believe that there are other fields that are just as opportune. It may not be now, tomorrow or next year, but certainly Marvin Quipones will appear in the history books. :D

77. Finish my 77th Blog Entry!

- Yey! Nearly 3 hours straight of using my brain does not sound fun at all but it surely defied my expectations. I can’t believe I can think of these many things after doing 50 of them so far without repetitions or rehashes. Despite the time it took to make this, It amazes me how many things I want to do in the world as reflected by all these ideas and wants. I’m looking forward to the next batch, Marvin signing out! :D

101 things that I must do before I die Part 6! :D

41. Having a real snowball fight

- The last time I had a snowball fight was when I was 4 years old. As far as I can remember, my cousin once threw me countless ones because I was really defenseless back then. I was considered the "practice dummy" since I could barley fight back. Despite the bombardment, I never did cry because I loved the rush and sensation. I only wish I could have another one when I go abroad.

42. Have a fully air-conditioned room

- When summer makes its presence felt, it makes everything so hot. At times, the temperature makes it unbearable just to move around or even sleep! At its peak in the noon time, you have no choice but to take a bath constantly (even if it means locking up the CR nearly everytime) but even so, the heat just gets to you almost immediately. Even if it IS costly, I still want to have a fully air conditioned house just to dispel this nuisance. Thanks a lot Global Warming!

43. Use a lightsaber

- LOL is this even possible? It may seem far-fetched but the conceptjust sounds so fun and appealing. A portable and stylish paper cutter? You bet! Technology is really rapidly advancing fast. You never know, always look at your newspaper's technology section. :

44. Have wireless earphones

- I don't know if this exists yet but it will surely have a lot of impact in the technology industry. It’s such a drag to wrap and unwrap those darn earphones all the time. Not to mention that when they get, it’s far too annoying to unclog them all. Even then, it has a capacity to depreciate your ear phones till they get broken. But despite the advantages, you still need to be careful because when you lose them...OUCH!

45. Learn to be a survival expert!

- I'm having too much "Man Vs. Wild" on Discovery Channel. The concept of survival has become an object of entertainment rather than urgency. I can never blame the show because it is a fact that pulling off amazing escapes against the odds can be downright entertaining. That's why I want to become one because you can never really anticipate when this knowledge would become of valuable use. Plus you can save lives if executed successfully. :D

46. Have a customized car

- Typical colors are beginning to become drab and boring. Custom is where it’s at! The idea of being unique has always inherent in human nature because each one has a desire to become known and special. This is no different when it comes to cars because of the variety I've seen so far Paint jobs? Exteriors? Wheels?......MONEY?!?!?!?! *sad face*

47. Be a Game Hunter

- No, not video games but the real deal.(e.g. duck hunters) It just strikes me so boldly how one can appreciate shooting animals either for fun or survival. I don't really enjoy this, I'm just curious. I guess the human pride and ego are the ones fed by these "accomplishments." Then again, I would only try this once. :D

48. Become good at wall climbing

- I remember back in high school we had a P.E. sport based on this. While it was scary at first, it soon transforms to becoming something really fun and memorable. The idea of conquering something and looking back down at everyone on the floor really gives me a feeling of excitement. I was never really a pro at it but I thoroughly enjoyed it thus really missed it. Someday surely again. :D

49. Pass my last FIMICRO test

- The days have been hectic and the schedules compressed. The lessons are no different because of their complex nature. The graphical quantities just keep on coming and the equations continue expanding. The grades are volatile: they keep on dropping. Hope is vanishing but I will always keep on fighting!

50. Always keep a positive outlook on life

- There’s too much negativity on this world because people keep talking about problems. Recession, murders, theft, wars...why do newspapers keep focusing on those when they serve no other purpose than to depress? I believe that this negative propaganda is what is holding people’s happiness back from fruition. “Every human being has a right to live, love and laugh.” I will be no different because I will exercise this long-forgotten privilege.

101 things that I must do before I die Part 5! :D

35. SKYDIVING!

- Many things in the world can be considered ordinary. Many things in the world could be taken as routine. Still, many things in the world can deemed as common. But this, this is most certainly not one of them. Take the plunge....at 13000 ft!

36. Try a Milk Bath?(LOL)

- What’s the deal anyway? Isn’t a simple water bath enough? I feel that this is getting a tad bit overrated and that’s why I’m getting curious. Won’t you get disturbed by swimming in milk? God this is killing me...MUST....TRY.... *dies*

37. Own a smartphone

- The iPhone 3GS looks cool and everything! Why does it have to be so damn expensive? Wi-Fi, Vids, Pics, Apps and much more is featured on the phone. The technology itself amazes me because it’s becoming more and more of a computer rather than just a plain old phone. Can someone spare me any $$$$? HAHA!

38. Drive a submarine

- Being underwater is awesome! It is a whole new world full of varied sights and ambiance. The alien landscape of it excites me and the vehicles itself supports me. What will I see there that will help me in my chosen course? You never know...

39. Driving, driving and just keep on driving

- The idea of adventure is really an enticing thing. It is often said that the truck drivers are the “wisest men of the road.” This is because their wheels enable them to explore and learn the seemingly constrained network of passageways. This permits them to fully master the people and cultures surrounding each domain. When I finally have my own car, I will try to do this someday

40. Buy a new keyboard

- The keyboard I’m using here now has erased letters all over it. The WASD letters are worn off so bad that the letters don’t even seem to have been put there in the 1st place. I REALLY need to buy one because I have papers to write. It is hopefully an original one so as to not undertake this “missing letters” fiasco again. This is probably one of the 1st things I’ll accomplish in this list. LOL

La Virgen Maria

Dear Mom,

You know that I’m no good at expressing feelings in person due to my shy nature and insensitive tendencies. I’m also no good at doing things that you were used to do in your youth because we grew up in 2 different worlds. Finally, I was never good at living up to your expectations because I wasn’t the perfect child you envisioned. But despite this shortcomings of mine, you never did once disregard the fact that I’m still who I am. The troubles I’ve caused, the dreams I’ve broken and the promises I failed to keep were all, as much as I know, damaging to you but you were still always there for me be it passively or aggressively. If there ever was one thing I was good at then it should be none other than the art of hiding. I was afraid, I’m afraid, I’ve always been afraid of telling you this:

Do je

Kiitos

Danke

Efcharisto

Mahalo

Toda

Grazie

Domo

Kamsa hamnida

Gracias

Salamat

Thank you

See Mom? I told you I wasn’t good at anything because I even failed to uphold the only thing I was ever good at.

Oh and...

I LOVE YOU!

Marvin

31. Try to live in a another country

- Experiencing the same things every single day is such a bland life. The life of excitement almost always consists of experiencing new things. There is a feeling of thrill in living somewhere far away is it not? Ah! The mysteries of new culture, new food, new weather and a new way of life...let the adventure begin

32. Experience war at first hand

- It may seem such a stupid and suicidal thing to do but in truth, I think it’s not all what it seems. “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” The phenomenon of war has been downgraded to a mere quarrel of idiocy because of its ubiquitous appearances in the news because we fail to see the true nature of its intensity. War is not only a battle of strength but a battle of faith; there is a valor in what they fight for. By ONLY being part of the battle, can one can truly understand its ferocious yet heart-warming reality.

33. Become a lawyer

- My professor once told me that the Philippines possess one of the largest number of laws ever made. Did that make our justice system any better than the rest of the world’s? Even then, just because we have that many laws don’t make us any more lawful. Being one of the most corrupt nations in the globe, quantity is not our problem but implementation. Hopefully by becoming a lawyer, I can contribute to making this small country a better place to live in.

34. Learning to sculpt

- For a very long time, I’ve always been curious of sculptures. I often admired these works of art due to their mass and design. The idea of making a perfect design while chiseling through rough stone gives me Goosebumps. Why do they take the effort to build these seemingly intimidating things? I may find out when I experience becoming one.

101 things that I must do before I die Part 4! :D

25. Become an investigative journalist

- The Philippine Government is notorious for its lies and scandals hence its bad reputation. Politicians are more famous for being puppets rather than servants and money is indeed what makes their world go round. True, it may be considered as the most dangerous job in the world but it has its pay-offs because the truth is the most coveted prize of all. I believe that it is every bit of worth that I gain in trying to find this elusive phenomenon. Death is but a measly price to pay if one can save a whole nation through it.

26. Drive a Jet-Ski

- I once stated earlier that speed is one of my guilty pleasures. The thrills of feeling the breeze pierce through your face are tantamount to feeling free of everything that restrains you. As ironic as it sounds, the sensation brought about by “going fast” can only be justified by one idea: time stops. This is because the feeling of being on the edge more or less dispels you of everything else that you are thinking of with the exception of the experience. Speed then is healthy....provided that I don’t die first. XD

27. Customize my home

- They say that “personality reflects on preferences.” In a broad sense it is true because of its societal implication and tendencies. Let’s put it to the test shall we? I will make my home my primary experiment for this since what other single object can one significantly send a message than your own humble abode? Am I Emo, happy, sad or just plain sarcastic? Wait for this....

28. Learn(or is it re-learn?) Photoshop

- Man, I used to know this stuff all too well but alas memory hates mo so much. I used to have a lot of fun editing and creating stuff using preset images or pictures. It encourages me to explore myself both as an artist and imiaginist. Nothing can compare to having a work of art personally under your name that you can brag about all over the net. I don’t only want to re-learn, I want to master! Haha

29. Own my personal island

- Ever heard of the idea of private paradise? I bet the first thing that popped into your mind was a tropical beach all to yourself. Am I right or am I right? No more grandiose hotel prices or trash-filled sand shores, THIS IS THE LIFE! Marvin Is. will make its debut appearance on the Philippine map in its 2040 revision...I swear to God it will! XD

30. Be a newspaper “opinionist”

- My friend once told me that I should try to send some of my written opinions in a newspaper because it has a chance to be featured. I really like expressing my opinion in a written form because I don’t have to worry about nervousness or shyness. Being in a democratic country, the right to free speech is an emphasized privilege hence a motivation. Furthermore, I’m not really well-organized when it comes to speech thus the constant fumbling (I hate saying uhm). Writing for me is leisure and I hope I could make a better use of this someday. :D

101 things that I must do before I die Part 3! :D

13. Be a national hero!!! XD

- No, not the one who gets remembered just dying for something hahaha. The concept of heroism in our country has more or less degraded in our transition to the modern age because the mere stating of the word “hero” commonly denotes a dead person by today’s standard of thought. What I want to do is to bring back the original definition of hero that we once had as a nation – a persona who fights for a just cause. Instilling a concept wherein death is just an afterthought and life is the motive to be fought. I believe that there is a hero in all of us and I want to be considered as a hero who opened the eyes of his fellow men as heroes as well in their own special ways.

14. Be a political figure

- I do not wish to become one because I desire money nor do I wish to be one for acquisition of power. I aspire to become one with a simple goal – to make things right. The country’s negative image weighs largely on the bad press provided by the corrupt government and its obvious yet unstoppable greed. Everybody sees it yet nobody does anything about it and this is what makes me sick. I know that I may be assassinated for doing “what’s right” but who cares? It’s better than dying in a rotten system without any positive contribution. Tsk tsk...

15. Be a real Filipino

- Identity Crisis has always been prevalent in our country due to several nationalities that conquered in our history. Because of this, the various “rulers” have injected each of their own culture in the hopes of transforming us into one of their own. What is the end result of this? A seemingly confused people that is geologically Asian but preferentially Western – a disastrous combination if you ask me. Being Filipino is not as complicated as it seems because the only thing you need to do is be proud of yourself despite the flaws of our race. As Rizal said, “Ang hindi lumingon sa pinaggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.”

16. Join an African Safari

- I may not be the biggest animal fan out there but I still wanna experience this even once. I used to be fond of those animal shows on Animal Planet because they were something new to me at that time. Jumping Lions, running cheetahs and mauling Rhinos were some pretty cool stuff to see. It may even be better up close and personal!(not too close though cause I might die XD) The trip may cost me a lot but I believe its worth it...even though It might cut my daily McDo trips haha.

17. Write a novel

- I love reading books especially mystery and sci-fi genres be it fiction or non-fiction. They give me a sense of the extraordinary in this seemingly boring and dull world. It’s really thrilling to learn something new in this stuff due to their unorthodox nature. Because of this, I also found a knack in making my own short stories out of pure joy or sheer boredom. I seek to improve this skill of mine so that someday I can make a name for myself beyond that of the corporate world. Seeing my name beside Dan Brown or John Grisham is an ecstatic thought.

18. Be treasure hunter!

- The modern kind, not those people wearing eye patches and hooks on their right hands XD. Due to the advance of science and technology, treasure hunting has become a high-tech albeit expensive affair. Maps are replaced by charts, pirates removed for scientists and shovels exchanged for machines. In treasure hunting, these advancements may alter the feel but it can never change the thrill. You never know when lady luck might kiss you on the cheek and strike gold.

19. Become a stand-up comedian

- Making people laugh is hard but if it succeeds, you know that it’s hella worth it! Humor is the one thing we need more these days because of its uplifting charm. The world today is undergoing a global downturn due to the financial crisis and the emotional depression that comes with it is only making it worse. The consequences of such events propel people to do illogical things from the usual theft to the disturbing phenomenon of suicide. They say laughter is the best medicine and I believe we need it now more than ever...I can only wish that one day I could be part of that “prescription” as well.

20. Conquer Mars!

- Science Fiction has long been an interesting topic for me since I was a young boy. The thoughts of having something new and different happen propel a shallow albeit intense joy from within my young mind. Venturing to the uncharted is one of my “sinful” tendencies since I leap before I look most of the time hence my careless characteristic. The planet Mars has always been one of my particular interests just because of its closeness and similarities that it possesses with our planet. What lies within it? How does it feel to live there? Are we not alone? It just sits there as if screaming for my name to come to it. You better be ready red dude because I’ll be coming for you someday.

21. Travel the “seven seas.”

- I know that being a sailor is not the most glamorous occupation known to man due to its tedious and dangerous circumstances. Low pay, hazardous waters, sea-sickness and fatigue-magnet: these are the common aspects of sailing life but it is not all about cons. Being a sailor promotes a great sense of freedom as an individual because of, ironically, its restrictive nature. You are isolated on a vessel and are forced to make the best of it. This seemingly punishing case helps you appreciate yourself and nature because it gives you time to think and reflect especially thanks to the absence of the busy world of civilization.

22. Build a house with my own 2 hands

- “It is nice to have something but it is more gratifying to create something.” During my youth, Lego used to be my favorite toy brand. This is because the blocks allow me to visualize and create something I originally thought(most of the time) of by myself. This also gives me the possibility to recreate something I admire with ease and in a much smaller scale. Once upon a time I tried to build a home for myself using these plastic blocks yet I never finished it since I lack more Legos that I needed to complete it. One day I’ll put it into reality, I’ll build a home with my own 2 hands as a symbol of personal accomplishment.

23. Have my own business

- To flourish in the economic world, you must become a smart entrepreneur. It holds challenges and risks but the returns will be worth it. To many people, they may think I’m in it just for wealth, fame or power just because those are the basic aspirations of the traditional businessmen...they are wrong. I’m in it not merely for those alone but for something far more rewarding – worth. To make your mark in this world you must persevere and contribute to society with everything you have and that is basically what I will do since worthiness has always been one of my basic principles in life.

24. Become a scientist

- My college degree maybe related to business but that won’t stop me from studying the natural world. As a youthful student, my favorite subject used to be science or biological science to be more precise. The world around me fuels my curious nature and often leads me into trouble because of my limited knowledge. Now that I’m into the verge of adulthood, I’m once again allowing this nature of mine to be unleashed and more importantly, entertained. The corporate world will not restrict my dreams of being a scientist...not anymore.

101 things that I must do before I die Part 2! :D

7. Create my own Self-portrait

- Every person deserves to leave a legacy of their own whether abstract or concrete. Examples of which include memories and great works you’ve accomplished. From what I’ve seen, many great people create paintings of themselves as symbols of what they once accomplished. Some of these exemplary personas include the brilliant painter Vincent Van Gogh and even a number of our own Philippine presidents. It would be an honor to have one someday and I wish I could find time to make one or let someone else make one for me.

8. Start a Band

- I’m a big fan of music so why wouldn’t I try to start one? Although it seems very unlikely because I have little to no knowledge of playing instruments, it still seems to be a cool idea to create one. “Musicians are the weavers of emotions.” They have the ability of tugging at your heartstrings in the most simple of ways. Their ability to influence is remarkable despite its simplicity and maybe that’s why I dream of having one.

9. Be part of Greenpeace

- Greenpeace is a non-governmental organization for the protection and conservation of the environment. Its aim really grows on me because I am guilty of pollution despite knowing the grave consequences of my actions. Have any of you watched The Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore? It struck me quite a while back because it really opened my eyes to what the future maybe like in a few years time because of me. The Org might help me cement my convictions of being always “green”(in a good way of course haha!. :)

10. Become a Video Game Developer

- Video Games have always been close to my heart. They are forms of escape and stress relievers on my part because they give me the means to vent out and relax in a variety of ways from doing puzzles to shooting people in the head(BOOM HEADSHOT!). I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember myself hence it’s only natural to one day to become one. Given the advancement of technology, I’m pretty sure I can concoct a simple one in a few years when I have the time. Flash games are a possibility...Plants vs. Zombies anyone?

11. Be a Web Designer

- I’m essentially a web surfer kind of dude. The web pages have become a second home to me hence I get pissed whenever the internet is down for some dumb reason. :D I’ve seen so many great web pages that have been created with pure genius. Such an example is the ubiquitously visited Yahoo! Homepage. Sure it looks simple but with so many links to maintain and a mammoth amount of stuff to be updated every minute, it remains to be called a technological marvel. I will create some of these brilliant web pages someday and maybe I could take this as a side job when I finish college.

12. Go to Space

- Being an astronaut was one of my childhood dreams (wasn’t it everybody’s? XD). The sci-fi movies I’ve watched always made me wonder what it feels like to go there. The space documentaries featured on both Discovery Channel and NGC never cease to amaze and entice me. NASA better hurry up on commercializing their expeditions so that everyone can experience it. I want to go there NOW! :D

101 things that I must do before I die(YAY 1st post!)

  1. Visit The Vatican

- “I was born as a Christian, is living as a Christian and will die as a Christian.” As far as I can remember, I’ve always known how to do the sign of the cross hence why shouldn’t I aspire to go there? It is only logical for me to honor this religion of mine by doing this pilgrimage even just once. The sins I’ve committed far exceeds the good I’ve done so far, it’s a shameful act of gratitude for the life he gave me. This I vow I will do someday even if it drains my savings account to the very brink(well not exactly but still...haha).

  1. Learn to be a chef

- I know it sounds weird because my course is related to finance but...I’ve always wanted to cook(haha!). I consider it as a satisfaction of the simpler things in life because it could be considered both as a necessity and a luxury. The swift yet convicting strikes of the knife, the rough yet subtle handling of ingredients and the exhausted yet satisfied expression of the creator are all aspects of both work and art. Despite its complexities, it always boils down to how it tastes – good or bad. This perception of mine has always got me interested in it and besides, I don’t want to live my life on instant noodles and fast food alone you know. XD

  1. Travel around the world

- Who doesn’t want to see new stuff everyday anyway? Isn’t it bland to look at the same things, same people and same places for one lifetime? Hell I know I do. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine to always strike at the chance to go someplace different every time I find a chance to(like my brother’s business trip wohoo!). If variety is the spice of life then travelling is MY passion in life.

  1. Learning Chinese

- It is being considered as the language of business. They say that if you delve into the business sector then learning to speak Chinese is the way to go. Besides, It’s getting boring just being only a bilingual dude(admit it...it’s true diba? XD). It is one of the fastest growing economies therefore what’s not to like about speaking a thing or two with their native tongue? It may even become a fun and enriching experience on my part. :)

  1. Flying a plane

- To be honest, it was a childhood dream of mine to become a pilot when I grow up. Years ago, I used to collect a variety of airplane models or toys fictional and real alike. From Boeing’s 747 die-cast models to the X-Wing fighters from Star Wars, I was complete fan of planes albeit not hardcore though. Judging from what I am now, it seems very unlikely for me to become an aircraft pilot but I want to at least know even just the basics of flight. Someday for sure...

  1. Owning a Sports Car

- It’s a luxury to own a car but it’s a pretty damn good over-the-top luxury to own one of these bad boys. Why do I want this? It’s simple; if you want to have something wouldn’t you want it to be the best and greatest of them all? In addition, these cars also tend to have greater performances than standard cars though at the cost of higher maintenance prices but that doesn’t stop me from aspiring to get one because for me, experience is all that matters. It’s one thing to look but an entirely different thing to experience and also...it doesn’t hurt to dream right? XD
